Where can I cut my own Christmas tree in Pennsylvania?

Short answer: We found no public forest in Pennsylvania that sells a Christmas tree permit.

Allegheny National Forest (Pennsylvania's only national forest) does not list a Christmas tree permit. Its official permits page covers fuelwood and special-use (events, commercial, utility) permits only, and it has no Christmas tree listing on Recreation.gov (checked Oct 22, 2026).
Pennsylvania state forests: cutting or removing any tree is not allowed without written permission from DCNR (17 Pa. Code § 21.115).

Your best bet: a choose-and-cut tree farm

Many private tree farms let you walk the rows, pick a tree and cut it yourself. The state growers' association lists farms near you.
